DRINKING WATER TESTING
The quality of drinking water is a powerful environmental determinant of health. Assurance of drinking water safety is a foundation for the prevention and control of waterborne diseases. Drinking-water should be suitable for human consumption and for all usual domestic purposes. A drinking-water quality guideline value represents the concentration of a constituent that does not result in any significant health risk to the consumer over a lifetime of consumption.
When a guideline value is exceeded, the cause should be investigated and corrective action taken. The amount by which, and for how long, any guideline value can be exceeded without endangering human health depends on the specific substance involved.
Drinking Water Test reports are required for FSSAI license, Pollution Control Board Compliance, Environment Impact Assessments by Industries. According to Indian Standards, the Drinking Water specification should conform to IS 10500:2012.
