BATTERIES WASTE MANAGEMENT
The Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules shall apply to every manufacturer, importer, re-conditioner, assembler, dealer, recycler, auctioneer, consumer and bulk consumer involved in manufacture, processing, sale, purchase and use of batteries or components thereof.
Bulk consumer means a consumer such as the Departments of Central Government like Railways, Defence, Telecom, Posts and Telegraph, the Departments of State Government, the Undertakings, Boards and other agencies or companies who purchase hundred or more than hundred batteries per annum.
HALF YEARLY RETURN BATTERY WASTE
According to Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules, a half yearly report containing information regarding sale of new batteries and collection / recycling of used batteries has to be submitted by 30th June (for the period October-March) and 31st December (for the period April-September) every year.
